Mango Michelada

This refreshing Mexican drink dates back to the 1940s or '50s. New variations are popping up all the time, like this version that incorporates sweet mango. Use your favorite Demitri’s Seasoning depending on whether you like it smoky with chipotle, classic, or spicy with chilies and peppers!

Makes 1 drink

kosher salt or other coarse salt for rimming glass (optional)
3 tablespoons chopped fresh ripe mango
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon Demitri’s Classic, Chipotle Habanero or Chilies & Peppers Bloody Mary Seasoning
2 to 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice, depending on taste
1 (12-ounce) bottle Mexican lager beer
Garnish: fresh lime wedge

Rim a tall or large glass with salt, and set aside.

In a cocktail shaker, press the chopped fruit and sugar together with a muddler to release the juice. Fill the shaker with ice and add the Demitri’s seasoning and lime juice. Cap and shake. Add three-quarters of the beer then pour the drink into the salt-rimmed glass. Garnish with lime. Serve extra beer on the side.

Note: Substitute fresh ripe pineapple for mango for a tasty variation.
